Most named places in this list, including Burke, Reston, Annandale, Fairfax Station, Springfield, Centreville, McLean, Chantilly, Great Falls and Lorton, are unincorporated communities in the surrounding counties, without a separate town government. Arlington is uniquely a fully urbanized county with no incorporated towns inside it, and Fort Myer is an active-duty military installation, not a civilian town at all. We say which is which on each town's own page, because that distinction matters for anyone comparing a service quote against the place they actually live or work near.
